Good-bye (and bad) letters
Sunday May 20th 2012

The time has come

Some of you may know this already – some may not. I have been offered a job in NYC and unless something bad happens tomorrow, I will be taking it.

This means leaving you all – a group of people who have made Ryan a great place to work for the past two years. Insane projects and clients aside, it is the producers who made this job bearable and who continue to be the light of the agency, whether the account side knows/recognizes that or not. I wish there were time to do a transition and maybe a lunch with all of us but management – being the way they are – has seen fit that I should depart as soon as I hand Palmer my resignation letter. Since his best interests are all of ours too I think I will give it to him during Allocations tomorrow. Maybe on a napkin.

I know I won’t see some of you tomorrow and hope we will have the opportunity to cross paths – be it professionally or personally – again soon.

Be good, be efficient, be producers,
RC

PS I am working on a gig for my band in SONO in May so stay tuned…and do your timesheets.

Thank You

Hey everyone,

Thank you so much for the send off last night! It’s been an honor and a pleasure to work with everyone there, and I will miss seeing you guys every day. I won’t be far and I’m sure I will be stopping in from time to time to say hello.

Peace be with you all, and as L says…. We’ll always have Satskos!

Until the next time we see each other

Dear POKE Peeps and E

Some of you may know this is my last day at POKE, and as I sit here on my bar stool, my elbows on the bar, sipping my michelada, I find myself reflecting on what a… unique place POKE is…

But in all seriousness, the past 6 months have been an amazing experience and I wanted to thank you all for making it what it was – a true collaborative learning experience that has left me with some great skills, real experience, and hilarious memories that I will hold on to dearly. I am continually amazed at just how helpful every one has been, and the collection of brilliant and caring characters is, in my opinion, POKE’s greatest asset if not its very essence. Thank you for allowing me to be part of that.

I do sincerely hope to stay in touch with you all, maybe even crash a Sotsko’s get together. My personal email is ***@gmail.com and my number is (xxx) xxx xxxx. Please send me your own info if you’d like to stay in touch.

Ciao ragazzi,
M

Adios & Thanks

Each one of you has taught me something or been an amazing co-worker or a great friend, and I feel really lucky to have worked with so many talented and cool people. What an exciting ride the last almost-four years have been! I’ve laughed, cried and most importantly grown. So thank you for making this a great place, and please keep in touch!

End of an era…

Hey all,

Writing you from my personal email so you have it in your contacts. It’s been a great journey and an awesome experience working at POKE. Everyone, EVERYONE, rawks here and I’m going to miss it sooooo hard. No lie, this has been a hard decision to move on but for now it feels like the right one. I’m going to go delve into the world of motion a little deeper and soak up as much as I can. I’ve done a lot of growing at this company and POKE will always be an immovable part of me.

Chances are good that some of us will work together again. This is not the end of me as I’m sure we will see each other at various drinking events and the sorts. So, this is not goodbye but – see ya round! Love you all soooo hard. Thanks for being awesome and continue to do so! And finally, touch it….that is all. :)

this SUCKS

Dear POKE peeps,

The time has come, although I’ve been missing you since the day I decided to depart. You’re some of the coolest kids I know, you’re bright and you get it, but you’re also good-hearted and funny and that’s gold! Yesterday I watched a video of a presentation by Jonathan Harris, in which he mentioned how many smart people are working in technology these days, but how so few of those people are also wise. Being too close to technology can make us detached from our own feelings, we’re constantly solving problems for our clients and trying to realize ideas, which often requires that we take a step back and “analyze” human interactions from an observer standpoint. Even when we’re tweeting @ our friends, commenting on their status, sharing, etc… that’s never going to be the same as being with friends, looking people in the eye, being spontaneous, sharing laughs and drinks. That’s why I am so grateful that while at POKE I got to share more than great work with all of you, but real, unforgettable human experiences with incredible people like YOU. Saying goodbye sucks, so I’d rather not, because I know I’ll see you again. See you soon.

Love,

-T

What would Joan Holloway Do?

Like Don Draper, I really do tend to prefer beginnings. So I’ll keep it brief: I had the pleasure of working with you – extremely talented, intelligent and consummate professionals – at TVP. I had a ball, and am grateful for having had the opportunity to work with (or just know) you over the past year. I won’t be too far (couple of trains away). And I’m always a phone call, text message or e-mail away. And if our paths cross again in the future – even better.

P.S. Clearly, the subject line has nothing to do with the actual e-mail. Just a clever ruse to catch your attention – akin to sashaying down the hallway. In a 39′-30′-39′ figure and a pencil skirt. None of them my own.

Hugs,

- P

Not sure if this counts as a goodbye letter.

But we couldn’t resist posting this reenactment of JetBlue flight attendant Steven Slater’s fabulous slide down the emergency raft.
